Child porn charge for Beacon Hill youth

The Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit has laid charges against a youth under the age of 18 following a child pornography investigation.

On Aug. 24, 2015, police here received information from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) regarding 34 uploads of child pornography.

The NCECC is a national clearing house and coordination centre for all international requests to conduct investigations in Canada related to child sexual exploitation on the Internet. The IP address resolved to the Ottawa area and was subsequently passed on to the Ottawa Police Service.

On Feb. 4, 2016, the OPS ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the Beacon Hill area of Ottawa. Several computers and external digital media were seized.

The youth was charged with Possession and Accessing Child Pornography and will appear in court on Feb. 5, 2016.
