Local musicians encouraged to apply for JUNOfest showcase in Ottawa

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced Tuesday that artist submissions are open for JUNOfest, an annual musical showcase set to take place across the national capital region in the spring.

The two-night event has featured a number of well-known Canadian acts over the years, including Feist, Sam Roberts, Alexisonfire, Billy Talent, The Sheepdogs and others. Overall, more than 1,000 acts have performed at JUNOfest.

Submissions will be accepted at www.junofestsubmissions.ca between Nov. 29 and Jan. 27. The event itself takes place on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1.

The 46th annual JUNO Awards and JUNO Week are in Ottawa from March 27 through April 2.
